I naturally wanted to play it (and did and do). I was the only boy in the flute section. All knew what that meant and all were correct. MD, by the way, I am having a hard time suspending my disbelief re you being confused about cadenza and caveat-- though it did make for some nice moments here and there in the piece and you an oaf--- with your splendid control of the English? Also, the percussionists had to lug the timpani up from the storeroom. The curious historical statistic I wonder about is the rather remarkable percentage of Miss America contestants who have shown exceptional prowess on the xylophone. I've been around serious music students my whole life and never once met a girl who was on her way to a xylophone lesson, and I don't think it's just cause I'm Canadian.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
