This is one of the loveliest pieces of music ever written. I seem to remember that Poulenc had to sub at the last minute for an ailing pianist, hence the occasional mistakes in his part. The overall result, however, does come through as a wonderfully atmospheric and evocative. The way the performance is filmed definitely adds to the magic.
