Counter-tenor David DQ Lee sang Erlkonig as part of the song competition at this year's Cardiff Singer of the World. It was intriguing, but I'm not sure it worked, singing tenor for the father and counter-tenor for the child.
Unfortunately, I can't find a clip of it online, but some of his other Cardiff performances ate on YouTube:

Has Schubert ever sounded so much like Berlioz?
Oh and also: this is awesome.
I believe it *is* Berlioz. (Well, he did an orchestration; can't verify that this uses it.)
Anyway, don't you guys have Schubert Lieder on Record? Though this is pretty much the best thing on Volume II, there's other neat stuff on both sets.
I love this. It's fabulous!
