If it's really such a Namelose Freude, could you maybe shut the hell up about it?

And for the record I have no real opinion on Sunnegardh because I can't tolerate Fideedly-doodlio and was mostly not listening. I mean, is there any uglier writing for the human voice than the two big arias in this opera?

Seems to me that when Beethoven couldn't settle on one single overture for this thing, he should have gotten a clue and shit-canned the whole opera. One word" "ugh-ly."

Paul von Operablog: thank you for brightening my day by using the verb "to shitcan" with reference to Fidelio.

I still love this entry's title.

Am I the only one who feels sorry for a female singer who has to do her Met debut in an opera by ... Beethoven?

I know it's supposed to be an honor and all, but really! BEETHOVEN?

The poor thing.
