Yeah, other than the Hvorostovsky/Frittoli [!]/Haddock BOCCANEGRA and Adrianne Pieczonka in an otherwise weakly-cast TOSCA, there doesn't seem to be much of interest.
Delphimi, how very nice of you to say so. Yeah a lot of houses have 08-09 seasons that aren't the stuff of excitement-based heart attacks. Ah well, I'm spoiled of course; a season as big as the Met's is bound to have a coronary or two in it.
lucie: Yeah I mean the Tosca's a little intriguing, right? Honestly I didn't tune in to enough of the Valk to have a solid opinion of P'chonk, but I got a good superficial read...
I've never heard her sing Sieglinde, but I caught her Met debut about five years ago in Pique Dame, which was stunning. I also saw her very fine Countess at LA Opera, which perfectly showed off a big and lush voice and impeccable Italianate phrasing. I was going to make the trip down for the Tosca she's singing there, but now I obviously don't have to, which makes me quite happy.

Well THAT'S uninspiring. I guess I can stop panicking over not being able to afford a subscription this year.
Maury, you remain the god of my idolatry, even when you bear such depressing news.
